Technology Refresh for a City Government

We refreshed the technology across a city hall in phases over 12 months: 1,500+ PCs, displays, headsets and outdated servers, with no data loss and every phase delivered on time.

The client

A US city government, covering its main city building including the mayor’s office and conference rooms.

The challenge

Technology across the city building, from the mayor’s office and conference rooms to staff desks, was due for an upgrade. Outdated servers also held city data that needed to move to current infrastructure. The work had to cover more than 1,500 PCs along with the displays, monitors and headsets around them.

Our approach

Thiqah’s delivery lead ran the refresh in phases over 12 months, with a team of 20+:

  • Planned the refresh in phases across the building.
  • Worked with vendors to deliver the hardware.
  • Upgraded the TVs and displays in the mayor’s office and the conference rooms.
  • Imaged and deployed more than 1,500 PCs, with monitors and headsets to match.
  • Retired outdated servers and migrated their data to current infrastructure.
  • Did the work on weekends to avoid downtime during the working week.
The results
  • Every phase finished on time.
  • Data migration and decommissioning completed successfully, with no data loss.
  • More than 1,500 PCs imaged and deployed, plus new TVs, monitors and headsets from the mayor’s office to the conference rooms.
  • Weekend scheduling avoided downtime for staff during the working week.
